Simply shopping around for auto insurance can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars each year.  Much of it can be done by either calling a few brokers or comparing insurance quotes online by visiting sites like Insurance.com.

Keep in mind that the cheapest doesn’t always mean the best.  So, be selective and choose the most cost-effective quote with the right amount of coverage.  Then call your insurance company and tell your agent what you’ve found (e.g., details of the coverage).

And, don’t be afraid to ask him/her to meet or even beat your best quote.  It’s a competitive market and if your insurance company doesn’t want to lose your business, more than likely, they’ll beat the price.
